Mandala (“the app”) is published by Naam Jaap Life. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app touches, where it lives, and what choices you have. Mandala is designed to be local-first: the designs you colour, your name, and your settings stay on your device and never leave it.
TL;DR
- Your coloured mandalas never leave your device.
- Sign-in is optional. The app works fully without it.
- We don't sell your data. We don't track you across other apps.
- The only third parties involved are Google Firebase (for optional sign-in) and Google AdMob (for the small banner ad). Both are described below.
1. What information the app handles
1a. Information stored only on your device
The following items are saved using your phone's built-in key-value storage (SharedPreferences on Android, NSUserDefaults on iOS). They never travel over the network and are not accessible to us:
- Your display name and coloring focus (what you typed into the Profile screen).
- Your filled regions for each mandala (the colour you chose for each shape — stored as tiny region-id → colour pairs, not as images).
- Your progress counters (how many designs you've started and finished — derived live from your local fills).
If you uninstall the app or clear its storage from your device's Settings, this data is permanently deleted.
1b. Information from optional Google Sign-In
Mandala offers an optional Sign in with Google button. You don't need to sign in to use the app — every feature works for guest users. If you choose to sign in:
- Google sends us your display name, email address, profile photo URL, and a unique Firebase user ID.
- This information is handled by Google Firebase Authentication on our behalf. It is used only to display your name and avatar inside the app and (in future versions) to enable cross-device backup if you choose.
- You can sign out at any time from the Profile screen. Signing out removes the session from your device.

1c. Information used to serve ads
Mandala displays a small banner ad at the bottom of some screens through Google AdMob. To serve those ads, Google's Mobile Ads SDK may receive:
- Your device's advertising identifier (a resettable ID controlled by you in your device settings).
- General device information such as model, language, and approximate IP-based location.
- Whether the ad was loaded, viewed, or tapped.
Mandala requests non-personalised ads only. This means ads are contextually relevant to the app but are not targeted using a profile of you across other apps and sites. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device's privacy settings at any time.

2. What we do not collect
- We don't collect your contacts, calendar, microphone, camera, files, photos, or precise location.
- We don't run any analytics SDK (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.) in version 1.
- We don't have a server that stores your designs, your fills, or your colour choices.
- We don't sell, rent, or trade any data to third parties for advertising or other purposes.
3. Children's privacy
Mandala is intended for adults and teenagers. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will delete it.
4. Permissions Mandala requests
- Internet access — only used to load ads and (if you sign in) to authenticate with Firebase. Coloring itself never needs the internet.
- Network state — to detect whether the device is online before requesting an ad.
Mandala does not request location, contacts, calendar, microphone, camera, storage scanning, or any other sensitive permission.
5. Your rights and choices
- Use the app without an account. Guest mode supports every feature except cross-device backup (which is not yet implemented anyway).
- Sign out at any time from the Profile screen.
- Delete all your data by either signing out of Google and uninstalling the app, or by clearing the app's storage in your device's Settings.
- Request deletion of your Firebase Auth record by emailing us at the address below. We will remove any data we hold about you in Firebase within 30 days.
- Reset or limit your advertising ID via your device's privacy settings.
6. Data retention
Local data (your fills, profile, progress) is retained until you delete it via the device. Firebase Authentication records are retained while your account exists; you can request deletion at any time. Ad-serving data is handled by Google AdMob under its own retention policies.
7. International data transfers
If you sign in with Google or interact with ads, the relevant Google services may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Google operates under its own data protection frameworks, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Security
Sign-in tokens are exchanged over TLS and managed by Firebase Authentication. Local data is protected by your device's standard sandboxing. No system is perfectly secure, but we don't store anything sensitive on a server because — as described above — we don't run one.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy (for example, when cloud backup or analytics are introduced in a future version), we will update the Effective date above and surface a notice inside the app on the Profile screen. Continued use of the app after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes acceptance of those changes.
